Wall Reinforcement for Plasma TV
DVI cables and dedicated power outlet added so TV can hang "clean" on the wall. -
We used the opensource project MythTV, a Linux based DVR system to control several aspects of the automation. -

Nuvo Essentia 6 zone controller installed in the media stack. -
Media Stack Wall Input/Outputs
16 Speakers, Home-run Cat-5 for wall controllers, Gigabit ethernet, and two RG6 coax. (Building DirecTV and external HDTV antenna) -

Dramatic Lighting Scenes
Lutron RadioRA dimmers and lighting controls integrated via an RS-232 interface. Scenes such as "Watch Movie" are triggered by the MythTV DVR system. -
Controls in the Bathroom
And integrated speakers in the shower allowed us to listed to NPR in the morning. -
Low cost wallmount touchpanels

When renovating our new condo in Chicago, we set out on a project to install audio distribution to every room, lighing scene control, hardwire security, and computer controlled thermostats.
We took the concept even further by integrating many of the actions into our MythTV system (open source DVR "TiVo like" System)
